How to become a Home Child Care Caregiver
The Home Child Care Program is always looking for Home Child Care Caregivers across the Region of Peel who are interested in caring for children in their homes. Are you the kind of person who can provide the love, care and attention that a child needs?
The goal of our Home Child Care Program is to provide children with a warm, loving, inclusive, safe and stimulating environments as well as offering a supportive environment for child care caregivers. Providing home child care is both demanding and tremendously rewarding.
Benefits of becoming an in home child care Caregiver with Caring For Kids:
- Licensed by the Ministry of Education
- Ongoing support, workshops, training and resources from the Home Child Care Consultant
- No exchange of money between you and the parent(s)
- flexible hours and days of care and flexible daily schedule

- Lending library of resources, toys and equipment for a nominal fee
- Assissting with advertising and parent referals
Do you:
Want to supplement your family income without having to work outside your home
Have a suitable location and space in your home
Provide Flexible hours of care to accomodate parent's work shedules
Responsibilities:
Provide age appropriate activities that meets the needs of individual children
Provide verification of your own and your family’s up-to date immunizations
Home Child Care Provider use the early Learning framework as a guide to practice
Provide nutritional meals and follow the Canada's Food Guide
Work in colaboration with the Home Child Care Consultant/ Agency
Contracted by Caring For Kids and offer a safe, healthy and stimulating environment for children
Provide criminal reference check, including a Vulnerable Sector Screen for anyone residing in the home that is over the age of 18 years
Maintain homeownners' insurance policy coverng contents and liability
Complete Standard First Aid and Infant-Child CPR certification.
There are no more than three children under the age of 2 years of age observed to be receiving care at any given time including the provider's own children. Maximum of 6 children in the home.

Placements are not guaranteed immediately and are not always long lasting. Family situations change and a child care family may move or no longer require care.
