Before you may provide care at your address, you will need:

  • A successful home safety inspection completed by you and the Home Child Care Consultant using Home Safety Checklist. All elements of the home safety inspection MUST be in place before a contract is signed.
  • Written confirmation of liability insurance for your home
  • Vulnerable sector screening check at the local police station MUST be completd for you and any other resident in the home over 18 years and older.
  • A completed medical for all family members in the home ( TB, Tetanus/Adacel booster and MMR)Children and adults in the home must have up to date immunizations to ensure that everyone in the home is free of any communicable diseasse. This includes children referred by the Agency as well as thosed cared for privately.
  • Standard First Aid and CPR training including infants (level C)
  • Fire Extinguisher, Carbon Monoxide Detector, First Aid Kit, Fire Safety requirements
  • 2 References from unrelated people who know of your involvement with children
  • Pet Vaccinations(rabies shot)
  • Home MUST be smoke free
  • Temperature MUST be at least 20 degree celsius between October and May

Placements are not guaranteed immediately and are not always long lasting. Family situations change and a child care family may move or no longer require care. Therefore, it is important the Caregiver has another source of income.
